I was born and grew up in California, and am in the process of exploring the universe (as far as I can get).
I have a penchant for tinkering in computer/science-adjacent activities. The slash is important: although computers are commonly involved, my main goals tend to be focused on the natural world, while the engineering is a fun side effect.
For example:
- Astrophotography (see photos below)
- Fabricating a custom LED aquarium light to optimize reef growth
- Live streaming a Steller’s Jay nest
- Experimenting with yeast (sourdough & beer, mostly)
- Identifying mushrooms (but not eating them)
- Building a home Unix server running various services
